To BEE or not to BEE

A Hive of Activity!

On  27 May, second and third year Performing Arts School students were buzzing to present ‘Murder in the Beehive’ to an invited audience of family and friends. Started in September 2023, the students collectively expressed their desire to present a murder mystery for their end of course showcase, part of QQI Level 3 Drama.

Taking on the challenge, tutor Rod Goodall wished to highlight the plight of bees experiencing an infestation of mites and set about devising and directing a short one-act play. Together, the cast of ten worked over 20 weeks, 50 hours, equivalent to just 10 days to put on a show.

First year students got hands-on experience with their first ‘Blue Teapot live’ as the Front of House team with Spanish Erasmus student Marta Rodríguez provided backstage support.

Murder in the Beehive performance forms part of the learning outcomes for QQI Level 3 Drama module. Each PAS student’s portfolio of works for Levels 2 & 3 will be externally authenticated by QQI in July.
